In this article, I share some of the short notes I made after reading this book while flying to Rome. The book is an interesting inspiration to create your own stories, the plot of which takes place in the future. To get the most out of this story, I recommend that you read the entire book, it is short and very pleasant to read.

Book Title: Aldous Huxley – Brave New World

1. Repetition.

The more times we repeat something to ourselves, the more true or easier it becomes, depending on what we repeat: belief, action. In the book, all the teachings were inculcated through sleep into new unborn individuals of the world of that time. Three times a day. Yes, when a man comes out of the cylinder, he has them assimilated so that everything seems to him:

Easy

Understandable

Normal

Real

2. Manipulation.

The stewards of this world have built a system that would allow them to easily control people.

Epsilons – one could compare to today’s social group, which are all full-time employees, but from the lowest group, mainly blue-collar workers.

Beta minus – state employees.

Beta – employees in higher positions.

Alphas – they were wealthy, wiser people, at the higher ranks in society.

Overall, all the classes that exist in the world today are reflected in this book.

Worst of all, Epsilon could never be alpha. It was all conditional from the very beginning in the bud. Children were brought up in the castes to which they would later belong.

People lived like in a cage that was properly cared for to make them happy. Unfortunately, they were not free, they despised many things, such as freedom, having one permanent partner, having children, higher emotions and feelings.

It was all created by the stewards to control the people they artificially raised for themselves. Thus, they provided themselves with happy subjects and millions of hands to work. They created a world without wars, excuses, and inferior caste rebellions. From the point of view of the stewards of the world, they did something extraordinary, but at the cost of humanity. They made puppets out of ordinary people.

3. Escape from reality.

That is the soma drug that was given to people in daily doses after work to make them always happy. After taking soma, all worries, problems and worries ceased to exist. The man felt joy and happiness, depending on the dose of the drug he took.

Unfortunately, the drug meant that people did not notice the other side, they did not learn lessons, because they were dazed with the drug that the rulers of the world gave them, and they eagerly consumed it, which was the norm anyway.

4. Conditioned happiness.

You can’t make cars without steel.

You cannot create tragedy without social instability.

In this world described by the author, everything was stable and harmonious.

People are happy because they get what they want, and they never want what they can’t get because they have no idea about the existence of things that they might want.

The stewards created the illusion, through biological and psychological conditioning already in the embryonic stage, such as when a man deliberates from the test tube:

– he only wants what he knows, what he is conditioned to

– they are safe, wealthy, always healthy

– are not afraid of death

– they live in a state of blissful ignorance, they only know as much as they need to be happy,

– if they feel worse, take soma

5. Momentary pleasures.

The people of the new world put their desire to be satisfied immediately. They had little ambition to put off satisfying their greatest desires. Therefore, when the desire to indulge themselves, mainly sexual, aroused in them, they did so almost immediately. As with any other pleasure, they didn’t wait, they just gave it to her. They just wanted to do nice things.

6. They felt no fear.

They felt no fear because they were conditioned not to feel it. The same can be done by a man in this world, to condition himself by repeating a sentence, wisdom, not to be afraid, but to pursue what he wants most and, despite all difficulties, to achieve these goals.

7. Old age.

– When a person grows old, he feels weakness, apathy, discomfort and suppresses the fear that his condition was born of some disease, but it is simply old age. And in this new world they know how not to experience old age, but also in our world, when a man takes care of himself, old age is nothing terrible.

– People are afraid of old age because they are afraid of death and what comes after it. In order not to become a decrepit old man, it is enough to accept this fact and enjoy life while you have time.

– It seems that due to old age, people lose their imagination, passion, fantasizing, attraction to desires, realizing dreams and goals, or any entertainment. Only a small part of people live their lives to the full, regardless of their age.

8. Savage.

Unfortunately, up to a point I thought that the savage was more mentally free, but unfortunately in my opinion the author spoiled his character a bit. He made him a martyr who thinks like most average people today:

– that they are not worthy of luxuries

– that they don’t deserve a better life

– they convince themselves that they are evil, wicked.

The Savage wanted to be free, but when he struck arrows at his bow in the forest, he felt happy, and a moment later he imposed on himself some pointless penance that, fortunately, he does not deserve nonsense.

The Savage has self-flagellated, maybe this is a branch of religion where it is considered repentance itself, but he scourged himself because he felt lucky. He wanted to be unhappy because he told himself that he did not deserve happiness.

The freedom of a savage is sad, supposedly free, but his beliefs take away his mental and spiritual freedom. He only whipped because he had passionate and erotic thoughts with a woman named Lenin. Yet closeness with a woman is a wonderful act. Wonderful, if you really want it, if you didn’t want it, he wouldn’t be thinking about it. Although the desire for a woman distracts from other nobler activities, even when the time is right, you can enjoy intercourse. I know why he was whipping himself to stop thinking about this woman, it’s like whipping with a rubber band on the wrist, only real whipping is more painful but I suspect more effective.

The Savage could not cope with the death of Linda, his mother. As with other problems.

Lenin, appeared in the lighthouse with good intentions, because she undoubtedly felt something towards the savage. When a woman approached him with open arms, he lunged at her and, whipping first, twisted her, a whore and a harlot, only because he craved closeness and craved her, that he loved her, it is unknown why he wanted to kill this desire, this love. It is sad, but it shows that the savage was not a good man at all, because he hurt an innocent and good woman for personal reasons.

I create stories in various forms, which is why I am constantly looking for inspiration in books, movies and role-playing games. Some of my analyzes, conclusions or notes will find a place in my journal on this page. The articles will be rather short and contain only a small part of the analysis of a given work, so as not to reveal some new original ideas that I will be able to use in my productions.
